Industrial HMI
Clarity in complex machines.
Human-centered interfaces for industrial production. SVX, TPR and PMX.
Overview
Designing operator interfaces for industrial machinery means bringing technical complexity, production workflows and the needs of the people operating the system together. My work at Syntegon focused on structuring machine interactions and translating requirements into clear interface concepts.
Selected public visuals are shown for context. Project details are condensed to respect confidentiality; the images do not document every stage of my contribution.
The challenge
Make machine functions and operator workflows understandable within complex manufacturing systems. Interfaces need to support efficient use while accounting for technical and operational constraints.
My approach
- Understand operator workflows and machine interaction scenarios.
- Structure information architecture, machine functions and interaction flows.
- Develop wireframes and low- to high-fidelity prototypes for usability validation.
- Iterate with user and stakeholder feedback, and document requirements for engineering.
Outcome
The work focused on clearer information architecture, reduced interaction complexity and more efficient operator workflows. Close collaboration with engineering, product management and software teams connected UX requirements with implementation.
